(link is no longer active), which states: "Karlo Estates is situated on land that has only changed hands a couple of times since the American Civil War. A British Loyalist Officer, Peter Van Alstine, who built the first Glenora ferry, was given the land by the King of England. After his death the Stevenson family were the first to build a homestead on it and used the land for grain, as a tomato farm, and then a dairy operation. But it wasn’t until Richard Karlo planted the first grapes here in the Spring of 2006 that it’s Hillier Clay Loam soil was used for the production of beautiful wines, such as, and fittingly named, the 2011 Van Alstine Port." DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Peter by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Peter:
Van Alstine-116 and Van Alstine-83 appear to represent the same person because: same birth year - same father. Death dates differ, but are in the same location
It looks like Peter Van Alstine-83's father was Sander (Alexander) Van Alstine. I bet when I do more in-depth looking I will see that they are cousins at some point.
I'll pop over to Van Alsytine-47 and fill in any blanks once I find some proofs and such.
